The Last Post is a six-part original drama, created by Peter Moffat (The Night Of, The Village) for BBC One & Amazon.

Directed by Jonny Campbell (A Casual Vacancy, Westworld) and Miranda Bowen (Women in Love), The Last Post unfolds at the fag-end of The British Empire: Aden, 1965.

The series centres on a unit of Royal Military Police officers and their families. For the men, their job is two-fold: half soldiers and half policemen who face constant insurgency. Danger is everywhere. Hand grenades and mines are a constant threat. But The Last Post is as much about the pressures and excitements of being married to the British Army in a dangerous part of the world, where the order of the 50s is fading, and the Sixties are starting to swing.

Danger, heat and glamour. Sniper attacks, sexual liberation, gin & tonic, polka dot bikinis and sun loungers at the BP beach club, Strangers In The Night, death in the desert, drinking and smoking like there’s no tomorrow, frying eggs on the bonnets of Land Rovers, prized copies of Vogue, the politics of occupier and occupied, love and war a long way from home.

Jessica Raine (Call The Midwife, Wolf Hall), Stephen Campbell Moore (Goodbye Christopher Robin, The Child In Time), Jessie Buckley (War and Peace), Tom Glynn-Carney (Dunkirk) and Essie Davis (The Babadook) head up the cast. The Last Post is Executive Produced by Margery Bone and Elwen Rowlands for Bonafide, and Mark Pybus and George Faber for The Forge, and was broadcast on BBC One in the UK and will be available worldwide on Amazon, from December 22nd 2017 .
