Tom Bidwell is set to adapt the novel More Than This by Patrick Ness as an 8 part series for Channel 4

Bonafide have acquired the rights to Patrick Ness’ soulful, philosophical thriller More Than This.

The story follows Seth, a teenager who drowns in the ocean off the West Coast of the USA, only to wake up, completely alone, in the English suburb where he spent his troubled childhood. The novel has been described as “A tense thriller and an impressively challenging and philosophical book… Captivating throughout” by The Telegraph, and according to The Sunday Times it has “Crackling dialogue, suspenseful action, twist plots and big ideas”.

More Than This is Ness’ fifth novel for Young Adults. His previous novel, A Monster Calls, was adapted into a film in 2016, starring Liam Neeson. You can find out more about his books here.

The series has been commissioned by Beth Willis at Channel 4 and will be adapted by writer Tom Bidwell. Tom has previously written the hit E4 Comedy Drama My Mad Fat Diary as well as the Oscar nominated short Wish 143.

More Than This is the latest project on Bonafide’s dynamic and exciting slate. The indie is currently in production on the highly anticipated new drama by Peter Moffat, The Last Post, to be released on BBC One and Amazon at the end of the year.

It will be executive produced  by Elwen Rowlands and Margery Bone.
